Last week 50% of them saw mortgage rates going up and 50% saw mortgage rates staying the same. This week we see three different directions mortgage rates could go. 50% think rates will increase, 25% think rates will decrease and 25% think rates will stay unchanged.

Last week 50% of them saw mortgage rates going up and 50% saw mortgage rates dropping. This week 50% think rates will increase and 50% think rates will stay the same. This is the first time in long string of weekly Bankrate surveys where no mortgage experts, not even a small percentage, thought rates would drop. This may be a sign that mortgage rates really are going to trend upwards for a while.
